About us (Tiger-Lair.org)

The Tiger-Lair.org web site was created in the year 2000 when the small site I started in 1997 at the free host Geocities grow out of its proportions. Originally it started out as an information site with only the NATO Tiger association in mind. When in 1999 the official NATO Tiger Association web site (NatoTigers.org) came online I decided to broaden my horizon, and started to include Tiger Units from all over the world. With the arrival of the Official NTA web the hobby section of the the site was split off from the official site, and TigerFans.net was born. This site came not as competitor, but as an excellent supplement to the Tiger-Lair.org site.
Tigerfans.net would bring the hobby intel (such as patches, books, artwork and scale modeling) while Tiger-Lair.org would bring historical information and pictures. Unfortunately the TigerFans.net web site didn't survive the split off, and after only a year the web site faded from the world wide web. something that I, and many others with me, found a big loss for the www.
That is when I decided to start working on a new Tiger-Lair.org, with not only the historical information, but also the intel for the collectors and enthusiast that was once the TigerFans.net internet site. Together with the original webmasters of the NatoTigers.org and TigerFans.net work on gathering the intel was started. When I saw the amount of information that would have to be available on the new site, I new that regular html wouldn't be a good idea, and something that was one of the issues that led to the los of the TigerFans site, and that we would have to start work on a dynamic (database driven) web site, which would be easier to update and maintain. After a year of taking evening classes in advanced webdesign the time was ripe to bring the new site online for the world wide public.
